The PA State Flaming Foliage Festival is comprised of a young woman’s pageant with representatives from area schools all vying for the title of Miss Flaming Foliage, a giant arts and crafts fair, a parade which takes an entire year to plan, a “follies” style show the weekend before at the local high school where area youth showcase their talents, and a homecoming of sorts for those who currently, and used to, call Renovo home.

The event, locally known as the “Flaming Foliage Festival,” can also be described using the other 3-F’s: foliage, family, and friends. These all come together every year to usher in the start to the beautiful mountain foliage we have surrounding our wonderful community.

At our hometown homecoming, the streets come alive as the community comes together to decorate and celebrate our heritage.

What can you do here?

# 1: Wander through the aisles at the area’s largest arts, crafts, and vendor show.

#2: Dine on some late season, fair-style food from a dozen or so vendors specializing in everything from chicken, cheesesteaks, sausages, or even sticky buns.

#3: Watch the nearly 2- hour parade from the comfort of your own chair, or take a seat right on the ground. Any vantage point is the best one for the parade. Don’t forget your bag to collect the candy!

#4: Revel in the beauty of our foliage. Flanked by mountains on all sides, Renovo comes alive with the colors of autumn in October.

#5: Have a drink at a local bar and catch up with old friends, or make some new ones.

#6: Visit the Greater Renovo Area Heritage Park and learn about our area’s history and culture from some of those who know it best.

#7: Come early for the Follies! They usually take place a weekend before the festival at our local high school, Bucktail Area High School.
